Award winning line-up for final concert weekend

Hey OceanThe final concert weekend of the summer is set to bring a trio of top Canadian talent to Sun Peaks on August 30 and 31.

Juno award winning group, Arkells, will hit the stage on Saturday, August 30, followed by Canadian favourites Elliott Brood and Hey Ocean! on Sunday, August 31.

The Ontario based Arkells last visited the region in January, 2013, when they opened for Canadian rock legends, The Tragically Hip, in Kamloops. Since then, a string of tour dates have taken them across Canada, Europe and the United States, including performances at Texas’ iconic South by Southwest festival earlier this year. As well as receiving a Juno award for Group of the Year in 2012, Arkells have been dubbed Canada’s Best Live Act by CBC Radio.

Toronto’s alternative-country group, Elliott Brood, are touring after their Juno success for their latest album, Days Into Years, which secured the Roots and Traditional Album of the Year award.

Indie-pop-folk darlings Hey Ocean! will complete the line-up for the weekend. As well having ties with children’s show My Little Pony — lead singer, Ashleigh Ball, is a voice actress for the show — Hey Ocean! have had their music featured on TVs One Tree Hill, and in ad campaigns for T-Booth Mobile and HootSuite. In 2013, Hey Ocean! were nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year at the Juno’s.

Sun Peaks’ regulars, Spencer’s Dirty Matadors and San Diego act, Sister Speak, will also perform throughout the weekend.
