Businesses throughout the community have come together to support Australian bushfire relief.

A package worth more than $10,000 will be donated to Snow Aid Australia, an online auction for bushfire relief and wildlife rescue organized by snowsbest.com.

“Sun Peaks is home to hundreds of Australian staff and residents. We also welcome thousands of Australian guests each year, so it came as no surprise that the community wanted to donate whatever they could to this cause,” said Arlene Schieven, president of Tourism Sun Peaks (TSP). “The amount of support we received was overwhelming.”

The package includes return tickets from Air Canada, one week of accomodation at the Coast Sundance Lodge, alpine tickets for two for six days from Sun Peaks Resort LLP (SPR), six days of rentals for two from Jardines, return airport transfers from TasteFull Excursions, a $1000 pre-paid Visa from Sotheby’s International Realty Sun Peaks, a $100 gift  certificate to Bottoms Bar and Grill, a one hour massage from Four Winds Massage Therapy and Yoga, a $50 gift certificate to Ohana Deli Market and one snowshoe tour for two from Discover Sun Peaks Adventures.

It will also include a three night stay at the Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel in Vancouver, B.C., admission passes and shuttle to the Capilano Suspension Bridge and two hop on hop off passes from Landsea Tours & Adventures.

“With deep personal and professional connections to Australia, we knew we needed to think beyond just what Sun Peaks could offer, so reaching out to Air Canada and our partners in Vancouver made sense,” said Colin Brost, director of market development for TSP. “To be able to offer such a significant and complete package is a testament to the industry.”

In addition to the TSP package, Sun Peaks Grand and SPR have partnered with Australian tour operator Travelplan Ski and donated a seven-night package of their own to the auction.

The packages are in addition to more than $14,000 raised through community efforts for Australia Day.

The auction will be live from Feb. 9 to Feb, 21 2019 at snowaidaustralia.com.
