Community groups receive funding

SPMRM-LogoThe Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality announced a total of $6,000 in funding for several non-profit community groups at the municipality meeting on January 19, as part of an annual community grants funding round.

Sun Peaks Recreational Trails Association were a big recipient, receiving $1,000 in funding for tools to assist with trail construction — although this funding is conditional on a trail plan being developed to meet Provincial and Sun Peaks Resort Corporation approval.

The Green Art Festival was also awarded $1,000 for events in August and February.

Sun Peaks Quilters received $400 for materials for their donation quilts; Sun Peaks Speed Skiing Club received $800; Sun Peaks Health Association received $500 (in lieu of property tax for the Sun Peaks Health Centre site); Adaptive Sports Sun Peaks received $800; Art Zone Sun Peaks received $700 for workshops; and the Sun Peaks Scouts received $800 for their Jamboree event.
