Tourism Sun Peaks (TSP) advises that the summer concerts at Sun Peaks will continue to provide gated beer gardens for adults.
The B.C. Ministry of Justice requires organizers of large-scale events that expect more than 500 people to submit a site plan that demonstrates a safe, secure environment with controls in place to keep liquor out of the hands of minors.
“In order to have Sun Peaks’ entire general admission area fit into this new format, a massive amount of fencing would be required. Guests can expect to see a similar sized area to previous summer concert series beer gardens. This will maintain the unique, mountainside concert venue and free general admission area,” clarifies Janice Nankivell, events and adventure centre manager at TSP.
SPIN incorrectly reported in Volume 12 Issue 6 that concert-goers would be able to “enjoy an alcoholic beverage and experience the summer concert series without being restricted to a caged-off beer garden.”
