The “fun, friendly and fabulous” road race includes one kilometre, five km and 10 km routes and will complement the Retro Concert Weekend with participants encouraged to wear retro attire and get into the spirit of the events.
Berry says Jo’s Road Race is the perfect event for people new to running or first time competitors looking to ease their way into the running culture.
“If you’re a first timer, this is the perfect run to get your retro feet wet. This is the friendliest run you could ever encounter, put on by a team of fun-loving, happy, joyful people,” Berry says. “We invite runners of all paces to join us and collaborate together in a supportive, high energy event.”
The event is based around the premise that the benefits of running are more than just physical.
“Our philosophy is there is a pace for everyone. Running is about community, celebration, and moving, not only for a healthy heart, but healthy relationships and positive mental health,” explains Berry. “Running is a sport we can all enjoy and the benefits are life altering. There’s increasingly more and more research on the benefits of moving our bodies to elevate brain chemistry and keep our minds and thoughts active, and healthy.”
While the event is open to all, seasoned runners can still challenge themselves on the longer distance courses.
“If you are a seasoned, fast competitor, the course will keep your retro runners challenged as you race through the trails and village.
