This year’s Big Little Golf Tournament, supporting the Sun Peaks Education Society and Sun Peaks Health Association, was a grand success, raising $7,500 to be split between the charities.
Thirty teams of adult and junior players came out for the event this year.
The winners of the Lafarge Trophy, sponsored by Lafarge Canada and the Cement Association of Canada’s five to seven year olds were Charlie and Dean Roberts, with Ashwynn and Jaz Deol in second, and Theta and Terra Stebner in third. The eight to 10 year old group was won by Owen and Barney Mouat, with Emma and Curtis Wilkinson in second and Camryn and Brian Jacobsen in third. Trevor and Bruce Vadnais won the 11 to 14 group, followed by Jennifer and Cameron Gatey and Jenna and John Bevan.
The putting contest winners were Charlie Roberts (5 to 7 year olds), Emma Wilkinson (8 to 10 year olds), Korina Linder (11 to 14 year olds), Tim Mollard (16+).
Fun contests were found throughout the course including a hockey shoot sponsored by the Kamloops Blazers, a football toss with prizes from the BC Lions, a basketball toss sponsored by Desjardin Financial and a ‘Beat The Mayor’ contest with a draw prized sponsored by Surplus Herby’s. The teams were also challenged in a Wildlife Trivia contest with passes from the BC Wildlife Park for every child.
