Despite no official March Music Madness event this year, Voyageur Bistro, Powder Hounds, Masa’s Bar + Grill and Morrisey’s Public House have a lineup of live performers to keep the après vibe alive throughout the month.
The establishments decided to go ahead as planned to bring in live entertainment with a plethora of performances planned for St. Patrick’s Day weekend.
This weekend Powder Hounds, Masa’s and Morrisey’s each have live music events planned providing entertainment in a variety of music genres.
Powder Hounds has live music performances planned for Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17. On Saturday night they will welcome local favourite Kelly Spencer and on Sunday Margit Sky Project will be performing both original and cover songs throughout the evening.
Morrisey’s plans on celebrating on Sunday with an outdoor concert taking over the upper village.
“On St. Paddy’s Day we are going to have Maritime Kitchen Party, do an outdoor show for the village on the upper stage in the Upper Plaza,” said Rob O’Toole, outlet manager for Sun Peaks Grand Hotel & Conference Centre.
O’Toole said the upper village will be abuzz, with a definite Irish feeling with live music on both Friday and Saturday keeping the celebrations going throughout the weekend.
He went on to explain that March Madness or not there will be live music every Saturday and the occasional Friday throughout the month, including Jared Doherty and Emilio Pagnotta, Ari Neufeld, Jeremy Kneeshaw and more.
On Saturday, March 16 Capt. Rob Holston will bring his one-man band known as Obvious Jazz to Masa’s performing throughout the evening.
Voyageur Bistro will host Andrew Christopher, local DJ D-Funkt and Kamloops local Autom Gillingham for Thursday night performances throughout the month.
“It’s just a great way to celebrate the community, the season, the wrapping up of this year. Should be fun,” said Diane Larsen of Voyaguer Bistro.
Combined with Voyageur Bistro’s Thursday line up, Masa’s Bar + Grill and Powder Hounds live performances the village will still be echoing with live tunes throughout the month.
