TIAC BC AGM AND SUMMIT HOSTED IN RESORT
The Hon. Shirley Bond, Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training and Minister Responsible for Labour will be in Sun Peaks this week for the Tourism Industry Association of BC (TIABC) AGM and Summit. She is joined by Aboriginal Tourism Canada CEO Keith Henry and Destination BC President & CEO Marsha Walden along with delegates from tourism associations and business around the province.
The event opens this evening with a reception hosted by Tourism Sun Peaks at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel and Conference Centre. Sessions on May 25 and 26 include keynote presentations on numerous topics, such as solutions to the tourism labour shortage, the enormous potential for aboriginal tourism, best practices for leveraging film tourism opportunities, examining government priorities as they relate to the tourism industry, and discussing lessons learned after a crisis or tragedy in a tourism destination.
Tomorrow, Minister Bond will officially proclaim Camping Week in B.C., and will also outline details of a new province-wide initiative for Tourism Week, which runs from May 29 to June 4.
