The OCP will contain objectives and policies that should assist in the decision making process for the communities strategies for planning and land use.
“We are excited to be moving forward with the OCP,” says SPMRM Mayor Al Raine. “Over the past two years we have worked with community members to understand their hopes and desires for Sun Peaks through initiatives such as our Social Sustainability Plan, Land Use and Environmental Sustainability Plan, Greenhouse Gas Emissions Plan and Economic Action Plan. We are now looking forward to using this information to draft our first OCP.”
SPMRM and a steering committee made up of local residence have created a set of guiding principles in preparation for the OCP. These proposed principals are available as a survey created to encourage the feedback of the community.
Rob Bremner, chief administrative officer for SPMRM, highlights the importance of the communities involvement during these initial steps.
“The OCP will help us to build a community that provides access to the kinds of services that residents look for in a small town, such as quality recreational and health care facilities and schools,” he says.
