This past weekend at Sun Peaks Resort was a huge hit. The village square was lined with prepared concertgoers most arriving with their own lawn chairs and blankets.

The concerts started again on Saturday with Bon Jovi tribute band Blaze of Glory taking the stage shortly after noon. Last year Blaze of Glory was a crowd favourite and this year they didn’t disappoint.

It was the first time the Led Zeppelin Show has performed for Sun Peaks Retro Rock Weekend. One of the highlights was the drummer’s solo performance, the crowd loved it!

Last year Fandango ZZ — a tribute to ZZ Top, were the first band to perform, this year the guys enjoyed a later start and were stoked to see the crowds for the concert have grown.

Last to take the stage Friday night was Steel Wheels, a tribute to the Rolling Stones. After hearing three live acts during the day the crowd was raring to go on Saturday evening. Steel Wheels played to a packed village square and had concertgoers on their feet partying the whole evening. This was the first time Steel Wheels had performed for the Retro Rock Concert series and I sure hope they return next year.

On Sunday August 14, Hipeponymous, a Tragically Hip tribute band, played two sets, with concertgoers enjoying the Farmer’s Market lining the village walkway during the break. Hipeponymous performed two more songs for encore in the afternoon, much to the crowd’s delight!
