Tighter course for Yeah Bru! slalom

Yeah BruThe annual Yeah Bru! Old School Dual Slalom race took place on Sunday, August 31.

The event is organized each year as a fun and light-hearted competition to see out the end of the downhill mountain biking season and to crown the fastest slalom racer on a short course set up beside the Village Platter.

Aidan Kelly, director of sales and marketing at Sun Peaks Resort Corporation, applauded the successful event.

“The race went awesome and was a great event presented by the Bicycle Café to celebrate another amazing season in the bike park,” Kelly said.

This years’ course was moved up the mountain slightly, to accommodate the summer concert series taking place beside the Sundance chairlift.

“The course this year was a bit tighter and shorter, which meant technique and choice of line was the key to success, and staying on your bike,” Kelly said.

“Overall, it was a great closing weekend by the Sun Peaks biking community.”

Devin Knopf, a former Sun Peaks resident, picked up the win at the end of the event.

A past events manager for Sun Peaks Resort Corporation, Knopf had previously helped to organize the event, but had never competed in it.

“It’s all in good fun. It was just good to ride with my buddies,” Knopf said.
