White races through summer

SJason White HRun Peaks business owner and family man, Jason White, has decided to continue racing full-time in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series with DJK Racing this summer.

Although initially expressing interest in paring down his racing schedule, White will be driving DJK Racing’s #28 Bowers & Wilkins Dodge.

“I was definitely talking about cutting back for sure, and then an opportunity came up with the team that I’ve been racing with for the last four or five years, that I could drive the team car,” explains White.

White has raced in the first three events for the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series this summer, beginning in Bowmanville, Ont. at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on May 18. After a solid start, an impatient driver made contact with White’s #28, ending the day. In the next race, at the Autodrome Chaudière track in Vallee-Junction, Que., White ran a strong race with the leaders in the outside groove until, once again, contact was made that caused him to lose several positions ending in 10th place. The tables were turned in White’s latest race at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Que., on July 6 where he showed some impatience himself in the first lap and collided with another car, causing damage to the front of his vehicle and ending the day.

The next two races on the circuit are expected to be driven by another development driver, but White will be back in the driver’s seat heading into a busy August.

Looking forward, White says he will never fully retire from racing but he plans on cutting back to spend time with his family and keep up with his growing business.

“I’ll always race, until I can’t hold a steering wheel anymore but probably not in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, just doing some local stuff or maybe I’ll go down to the States and do some one-off stuff at some tracks that I’d love to race on, like Daytona or Bristol.”

TSN recently profiled White as part of their NCATS Driver Profile series, highlighting his ski racing past and competitive nature.
