New WestJet schedule expected to draw more people to Sun Peaks

A change in WestJet Airlines’s flight schedule for Calgary-Kamloops is in the works.

In the new schedule, the flight from Calgary will arrive in Kamloops at 7:35 p.m. and leave Kamloops for Calgary at 7 a.m.

The current schedule arrives in Kamloops at 1:07 p.m. and leaves for Calgary at 1:45 p.m.

The shift in arrival and departure times may work in favour of Sun Peaks Resort, said Christopher Nicolson, president of Tourism Sun Peaks.

“The morning departure means that Sun Peaks Resort guests can connect in Calgary to any flights, especially eastbound connections,” said Nicolson. “Likewise, the evening arrival means we can now collect guests through connections from more cities, both north and south of the border.”

The schedule change will be implemented on May 1, 2011.
