Bike enthusiasts rejoice! A weekend full of cycling is just ahead with the annual Peaks Pedal Fest taking over the mountain this weekend. The weekend celebrates another great season of riding with many events happening from Aug. 31 to Sept. 2 for riders of all levels.

Saturday checkout the Seek+Enjoy Poker Ride with both downhill and cross country options available for competitors to explore and prizes up for grabs.

A performance not to be missed is the Trail Stars Bike Performance with Jeff Anderson and Steve Dickin who will showcase their tricks and skills. Performances are set for Aug.31 and Sept. 1.

A family favourite, the Ride in Movie night, is set for Saturday at 8 p.m. at the Clocktower Square. The crowd can enjoy a showing of North of Nightfall a movie which follows a mountain bike expedition to explore Axel Heiberg Island.

On Sunday join a guide along the cross country trails for a group ride. Beginners head out at 10 a.m. and intermediate/advanced riders leave at 1 p.m.

Got a youngster with a competitive spirit? Let them test their skills at the Kids Foot Down Derby, a test of balance while riding within a small course. The event’s objective is to avoid putting a foot on the ground with bragging rights and prizes up for grabs.

Closing out Sunday will be the legendary Yeah Bru! Grass Dual Slalom World Cup a great event for spectators and those up to a challenge.

Finally, celebrate the end of the long weekend and bike season with Lift and a Lager, a   partnership event between Sun Peaks Resort LLP and Granville Island Brewing, to enjoy a nice cold beer after a day on the trails.
