One of North America’s most daring downhill designers is coming to town at the end of January, and offering Sun Peaks skiers the chance to buy her brand – at sale prices.
Transferring multi-coloured mountainscapes onto technical skiwear, artist Lynne Harrison – wife of Olympian Dave Irwin – is putting the crazy into Canuck couture.
The bright palettes on the prints make Alchemy of Ride’s items really stand out.
“It is about sharing colour and fun and happiness,” said Harrison who is based in Canmore, Alta. “Alchemy is the ancient process of turning base metal into gold and ‘The Ride’ is a metaphor for life.”
In the company of Irwin and several members of the Canadian ski team, Harrison is planning a pop-up shop during her upcoming stay at the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel. McSporties has sold her bike wear line for the past year, and she’s hoping to expand her outlets here for winter gear.
Her colourful collection can be browsed and purchased on Feb. 1 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Mantles Restaurant, where Irwin will sign autographs for ski racing fans and Harrison will give out free hot chocolate to shoppers.
Merch will include down puffys, psychedelic ski pants, and bold and bright après shirts for men and women. Your chance to wear her art on your sleeve and make sure that your ski buddies will never miss you on the chairlift or at the bar.
