Sun Peaks, B.C. (December 1, 2009) – After eight weeks of anticipation and fantastic contest entries from around the world, Thiago Lucena, a 29-year-old from Brazil, is the official Sun Peaks Snow Bum.
Thiago was selected from over 50 entrants across the globe, including France, Australia, Canada, and the United States, all of whom submitted videos online at www.snowbumcanada.com, to win an all-inclusive, three-month stay at the world class resort in the B.C. Interior.
A freelance videographer from São Paulo, Brazil, Thiago proved his passion for skiing and desire to bring the snow culture to Brazil with a video entry, written assignment and an interview.
The judges all said it was an extremely difficult decision to narrow the finalists down to one winner.
“In the end, Thiago embodies everything we were looking for in the first Sun Peaks Snow Bum. From the originality of his video and his excitement following the contest, to his passion for skiing and desire to tell stories about Sun Peaks to the world, Thiago stood out to the judges,” says Christina Antoniak, destination marketing manager with Tourism Sun Peaks. “There’s no doubt Thiago will share entertaining and unique stories from Sun Peaks with the world and we look forward to following his adventures on the Snow Bum Blog.”
Check out www.snowbumcanada.com for Thiago’s video submission and stay tuned as he blogs about his adventures at Sun Peaks this winter!
Thiago will arrive at Sun Peaks in early January for a three-month stay. Sun Peaks will be throwing a huge welcome party for Thiago on Tuesday, January 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Masa’s Bar and Grill. Come on by and meet the Sun Peaks Snow Bum!
