Current mayor of Kamloops and B.C. Liberal party nominee candidate Peter Milobar will be in Sun Peaks on Tuesday to meet with members of the community.
Milobar announced he would seek the B.C Liberal nomination for the Kamloops-North Thompson riding on Sept. 5 following the news current MLA and B.C. Liberal Terry Lake would not be seeking re-election in the upcoming provincial election. There are two other candidates seeking the nomination, North Shore Business Improvement Association executive director Steven Puhallo and former Tobiano resort developer Mike Grenier.
Milobar will be at Cahilty Creek Bar & Grill at 4 p.m. on Oct. 4 to meet residents.
Mayor Al Raine encouraged residents of Sun Peaks, Heffley Creek and Whitecroft to attend the nominee requested meeting and to bring their questions and concerns.
“We need to be certain that any representative for Sun Peaks understands our school situation, the Health Centre importance, recreational needs, business issues, tourism issues in general and other issues,” said Raine in an email invitation. “As in the past, when there is an opportunity to meet the possible representative for this riding, I have welcomed these candidates to come to Sun Peaks and meet the community and hear the issues that impact us as a community.”
