The Tournament City Ambassador Program is seeking volunteers to promote health and wellness in Kamloops.
Prospective ambassadors need to lead healthy and active lifestyles and must be 50 years or older.
Ten ambassadors will be appointed quarterly to volunteer 10 hours per week, beginning in January 2012. Ambassadors will be asked to volunteer at sporting events, host facility tours at the Tournament Capital Centre and host the Health Beat Circuit at MacArthur Island Park, among other duties.
To prepare ambassadors for their duties, the city will provide training in first aid, emergency response and basic equipment use.
Applications will be accepted until Nov. 18. An RCMP background check will be required for those selected for the program.
