Crews respond to wildfire in Sun Peaks

An initial attack crew suppressed a wildfire 5 kilometres from the village.

A four-person BC Wildfire crew responded to a .009-hectare wildfire approximately five kilometres north of the Sun Peaks village at Cahilty West on Saturday.

No structures are threatened and the fire is now under control. The cause of the wildfire is under investigation.

The wildfire danger rating for this area is extreme and residents are reminded to report a wildfire by dialling *5555 on a cell phone or by calling 1 800 663-5555 toll-free.
