Phil and Grace Hiom put on another great show at Sun Peaks with their five and 10 kilometre snowshoe races on March 3. Nearly 50 adults, and a few bundled babies, turned out for the race, and, as always, there was a prize for everyone at the finish, courtesy of the company’s many sponsors.
Yvonne Timewell crossed the line first in the women’s 10 km race with a time of 1:03:22, beating out Jennifer Elfenbein, 1:04:02, and Wendy Schroeder, 1:35:55.
Elise Desjardine won the women’s 5 km in 37:32. Tamara Shannon came second, 40:17, and Daniela Doebler came third with a time of 40:40.
In the men’s divisions, Greg Johnson of Kamloops won the 10 km race recording 59:04 and Patrick Amundsen came in second, 1:40:25.
Dan Symonds won the men’s 5 km in 32:06, followed by David Takahashi, 35:45, and Roberto Klarich, 43:32.
New this year, racers who competed in two or more Dirty Feet snowshoe races were awarded points for season ending prizes. Elfenbein took home the top spot for the women, while Takahashi made it for the men.
