Families fish for free

Reeling in your first catch of the summer is more exciting if it’s shared with family.

On June 13 to 15, families can fish for free in any of the province’s lakes and non-tidal streams.

The annual Family Fishing Weekend is a great opportunity especially for families who live in and around Sun Peaks where many lakes are located.

“Family Fishing Weekend celebrates an incredible sport, fish, their habitat and the great outdoor beauty of the province,” said Environment Minister Barry Penner. “The B.C. government wants to increase the number of freshwater anglers, and Family Fishing Weekend is a great way to introduce newcomers to the sport.”

Events are being held all over the province that inform the public on how to fish responsibly, and to protect their habitat while enjoying the sport.
