After extensive research by Sun Peaks Utilities Company Ltd. (SPUCL), Fortis BC and the Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality it’s been ascertained that the cost of bringing a new natural gas pipeline from Heffley Creek to Sun Peaks is simply too expensive at this time and faces too many challenges to be cost effective.
While initial estimates for the price of the project were around $12 million those costs have now risen closer to $17 million. This margin puts the project on hold for the foreseeable future.
SPUCL recently held a public information session to update the community and the presentation as well as the question and answers from the session can be found on its website.
