Due to the extreme fire hazard at Sun Peaks, fire chief Bill Stoner has instituted a fire ban. Effective at 4 p.m. on September 8, 2011, all open burning, including campfires and fireworks, will be prohibited within Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety. If anyone has questions or concerns regarding the fire ban or any other fire related issue, contact the Sun Peaks fire department at 250-578-8985.
