Touted as being “the hottest talent competition in British Columbia,” the PNE Star Showdown, returns to the PNE fair this year, but the submission deadline is coming up soon: Wednesday, June 7 at 4:30 p.m.
The contest is accepting entries from across the province and is open to all amateur performers ages six and up. Up for grabs is $10,000 in cash prizes and more than $22,000 in New Image College scholarships.
Singers, dancers, musicians, magicians and stand up comedians are welcome to show their stuff. The PNE Star Showdown will showcase the best performers from across the province throughout four days of competition.
During the semi-finals, competitors will face off daily for first, second and third place prizes in one of three age categories for a chance to go head-to-head in the finals. There, they’ll compete against all ages for the first place prize and official title as the winner of the 2013 PNE Star Showdown. Past winners include Burnaby’s Michael Bublé and Mission’s Carly Rae Jepsen.
To audition for this year’s Star Showdown, solo acts and groups of up to eight competitors are asked to submit an entry form along with a performance video, DVD or YouTube link no later than 4:30pm on June 7, 2013. Entries can be submitted online at www.pne.ca/starshowdown, or mailed to or dropped off at the PNE administration building (2901 East Hastings St, Vancouver).
