As snow begins to blanket the village and holiday lights twinkle across rooftops, Sun Peaks invites visitors and locals alike to join in the magic of the 13th annual Holiday Kick-Off from Friday, Dec. 12 to Sunday, Dec. 14.
Throughout the weekend, visitors can expect a full schedule of festive programming. The Sun Peaks Centre will host an expanded Artisan Market featuring regional makers, offering everything from handmade gifts and holiday décor to baked goods and seasonal treats.
On Friday evening, the community will gather in the village plaza for the annual Christmas tree lighting, a long-standing tradition officially marking the start of the holiday season. The ceremony begins at 5 p.m. and will include live music and family-friendly festivities.
The resort will also offer free public skating sessions throughout the weekend, giving families and visitors a chance to enjoy the outdoor rink under the village lights. Skates are available for rent, making it accessible for both locals and out-of-town guests.
Santa will make appearances beginning Saturday, arriving by horse-drawn sleigh for photo sessions between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. Meanwhile, younger guests will be able to enjoy s’mores stations, cookie decorating and complimentary hot chocolate. Live music and roaming performers will add to the atmosphere, filling the village with holiday songs and winter energy.
