Longboarding event hits the road at Sun Peaks

 | August 17, 2012

The 5Forty Longboard Challenge is set to hit the road on Sunday, August 19 at 2 p.m.

This event, organized by local businessman Scott Janzen, with the cooperation of Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality, is a first time venture in the community, and one that Janzen predicts will draw a crowd.

“We’re capping (registration) at 75 people, and right now it looks like I’m going to have 75 no problem,” says Janzen. “I won’t know until I have everybody here, but if everyone who says they’re going to go in it shows up, I’m going to be turning people away.”

The race will commence at the skier overpass bridge on Valley Drive between 14 green and 15 tee box of the Sun Peaks Golf Course, and run to 5Forty Cafe at the Fireside Lodge.

Residents and guest should anticipate minor traffic delays during the event.
