Master Gardeners information session on May 27

The Thompson Shuswap Master Gardeners is holding an information session on May 27 at 7 p.m. about the Master Gardeners basic training course to be offered this fall. The information session will be at the Thompson Rivers University Campus, Horticulture Building House 10.

The course is for anyone who would like to learn basic gardening techniques. Lessons include basic botany, caring for the soil, xeriscaping, sustainable landscape design, integrated pest management, organic vegetable gardening and more.

The three-month intensive training course will combine classroom instruction and volunteer community hours to apply what students have learned. Classes will be held every Saturday, from Sept. 11 to Dec. 11. The cost is $500 which covers $100 worth of textbooks and the fee for gardening expert instructors.

Master Gardeners is a non-profit volunteer association that aims to deliver quality education on gardening. The association focuses on the environmentally responsible practice of horticulture.
