The Thompson Nicola Regional District is opening up the Heffley Creek landfill for a Free Dumping Day on Sunday, May 29, 2011. Heffley Creek residents and people who live in surrounding areas can dispose up to $20 worth of residential waste for free.
The Free Dumping Day offer only applies to residential waste. Commercial loads are subject to full tipping fees.
Anything dropped off at the Heffley Creek landfill beyond the $20 limit must be paid for by the resident according to the existing tipping fee schedule.
Materials allowed are limited to personal residential waste only and include household waste, demolition and construction waste, white goods (washers, dryers, stoves, etc.), large furniture, water coolers, refrigerators and freezers.
The Heffley Creek landfill is located at 7381 Sullivan Valley Road and will be open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 29, 2011.
The Free Dump Day was initiated to encourage residents to help conserve, protect and enhance their environment.
