Sun Peaks Fire Rescue (SPFR) and Kamloops RCMP will take part in a short, physically distanced, memorial for the victims of the shooting in Portapique, Nova Scotia, tonight in front of the Village Day Lodge.

After meeting at 6:45 a short speech will be made by Nancy Greene Raine, followed by a minute of silence. At 7 p.m. first responders will turn on their vehicle’s sirens for one minute and the Kookaburra Lodge bell’s will sound.

SPFR has been taking part in the 7 p.m. cheer for frontline workers with their sirens since April 10.

Attendees are reminded and strongly encouraged to take physical distancing seriously and park on the gravel lot by the Sports School building. They may also park and remain in their vehicles with windows down to hear those who speak.
