Opening day goes ahead with two lifts, Cahilty and Five Mile runs open

Despite weather and snowpack challenges Sun Peaks will still open this weekend on Saturday Nov. 23. 

The Sunburst and Elevation chair lifts will be turning to give skiers and boarders access to Cahilty and Five Mile runs. The Village Platter may also open if the weather cooperates with snow making efforts. 

Alpine lift tickets will be $40 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under. 

Nordic skiers will have access to seven kilometers of groomed and track set trail with tickets priced at just $10. 

Chief marketing officer Aidan Kelly said despite the lean snowpack all opening weekend events will go ahead. Après and Ales will give all pass wolders a free beer at Masa’s Bar + Grill from Granville Island Brewing between 2 and 6 p.m. 

However High Five day, originally scheduled for Dec. 2, will be rescheduled. Another date will be announced as mountain conditions improve. 

Kelly said the resort is working to open more runs as soon as possible.

Sun Peaks will be the first resort to open in the interior of B.C.
