Over $4,000 raised for Australian flood relief in Sun Peaks

With the help of over 30 Sun Peaks businesses and individuals who donated or held fundraising events in the past week, just over $4,000 was raised for the Premier’s Relief Fund in Queensland, Australia.

Exact total is not tallied yet as we are still waiting for several contributors to finalize donations. The exact total will be published in the next SPIN.

“It really shows you the power of a small community when it comes to raising money for those in need”, said Adam Earle, publisher of SPIN Newsmagazine. “All we had to do was get the word out to the community that we wanted to raise money for flood victims on Aussie Day (Jan. 26) and bingo, we have $4,000 to donate.”

“It also shows the very real connection between Sun Peaks Resort and Australia and how strong it is. If this $4,000 donation from the people of Sun Peaks puts a smile on the face of any Australian whether they were affected by the floods back home or simply working or visiting in Sun Peaks, then we have succeeded in what we set out to do and that is to lend a helping hand to our Australian cousins.”

It’s not too late to donate. Financial donations are welcome through direct money transfer using the information below:
