Kamloops Rural RCMP is reminding residents to lock up their vehicles and remove all valuables after three confirmed vehicle break-ins occurred overnight on June 21.

Constable James Toye confirmed one vehicle, a black 2002 Honda Civic, insurance papers and a bike were all reported missing from three separate residences. Toye urged residents to keep a copy of their car insurance papers inside their home and not to sign insurance papers to decrease your chance of identity theft should they be taken.

Along with the confirmed reports, others have posted on social media saying their vehicles were also targeted over the weekend. Toye is asking anyone whose vehicle was looked through or had items taken June 21 to the morning of June 22 to report it to the RCMP.

“It helps us out when they report it,” he said.

The three reported thefts took place at homes on Eagle Court, the 2000 block of Sun Peaks Road and Sunburst Drive. As of the morning of June 26, the municipal cameras had not been reviewed for footage of the stolen vehicle.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help raise funds to go towards the purchase of a new vehicle for the owner of the stolen Civic. The fundraiser can be found at https://www.gofundme.com/f/replace-dons-stolen-car
