Test your luck with a hand of poker and explore the mountain at this weekend’s Rotary Ski Poker Run. The event will take competitors on various blue and green runs as they collect five cards to complete their poker hand.
“We will have five volunteers on miscellaneous blue and green runs throughout the hill. The goal is to go and find these volunteers and pick up the top card on the deck and whoever has the best poker hand at the end of the day wins a 250 Westjet gift card,” said event organizer Melissa Vike.
Registration for the event will take place at the base of the mountain with an entry fee of $20 per hand. Competitors can purchase as many hands as they please throughout the day with the money raised going back into the community through the Rotary Club of Sun Peaks.
“It does end at three so we will probably cut off registration by one just so everyone can make sure to get to all five stations we don’t want anyone to be rushed or miss out,” Vike said.
Due to warm weather Vike said there is a good chance competitors will find the five stations on the Morrisey side of the Resort. She later added the game is more about your luck of the draw.
“You get what you get. It’s twenty bucks, stays locally in Sun Peaks, and you’ve got a pretty good shot of winning $250. Pretty good odds.”
The club will also be accepting food donations throughout the weekend for their Spring Cleaning Food Drive. Donation bins will be set up at Sotheby’s March 29, staff accommodation March 30 and at the Coast Sundance Lodge March 31.
