Routine burning underway at Sun Peaks
Sun Peaks Resort Corporation has been successful in obtaining an exemption from the open burning ban which is not generally lifted until October 15.
This means that over the next several days some large slash piles to the east of the village, generally above the 14th Fairway, will be burned. At the same time the crews doing the fuel management work on the lower slopes above the village will be able to light up their hand piles.
This burning is routine and required as part of the forest health and fuels management strategy in the resort. If you have any questions on this please contact Sun Peaks Resort’s Jamie Tattersfield, mountain operations manager or Kevin Bendick, outside operations director, at 250-578-7222.
