Run for your life

SnowshoeingIt’s too true that when winter comes, people tend to not exercise as much as they would in the warmer months, even with a ski hill at their doorstep. If you’re looking for some extra help to keep you exercising in the winter, a raft of Smartphone apps may help you do it:

From the comfort of your home, you can pick the kind of workout you want or the areas of the body you want to train, and work out without weights or machines. A boot camp style app, it features preset workouts as well the ability to customize workouts.

The popular Runkeeper features GPS mapping, distance, speed monitoring, caloric output and unlimited activity history.

A more social way to run, Endomondo lets you challenge and race your friends as well as send them pep talks.

Zombies, Run!

Make running fun by running from a pack of Zombies. The app allows you to set the speed (walk, jog or run) and take on a variety of missions to evade the Zombie threat.

Get Running (Couch to 5k)

For beginner runners or shorter distance runners Get Running provides a nine week training schedule to build up to running 30 minutes or five kilometres.

Interval Run

This app allows you to mix up your running by providing voice instructed intervals while your music is playing too. You can use this inside to do a high intensity workout.
