Winter operation may be closed for the season, but that isn’t stopping one final winter event from returning to the village. The Western Canadian Hillcross Association annual Sun Peaks Snowmobile Hill Climb returns Friday, April 19 to Sunday, April 21.
Race Director Trent Backus confirmed the event will run in its usual location at the base of Tod Mountain across from the Village Day Lodge, with competitors racing up Sundance. Anticipating 150 to 160 riders attending the event nearly 300 runs up the mountain will be completed by the end of the weekend.
“We do a blackout race on Friday, so it’s a heads up drag race two at a time winner stays in loser goes home. Winner takes 50 per cent of the prize money, and we donate the other 50 per cent of the money to Easter Seals,” said Backus.
All competitors must register for the event by Thursday evening to be eligible for the weekend’s races. To register visit https://www.wchahillclimb.ca
