Sun Peaks Education Society (SPES) will share its latest update for fall 2025, highlighting recent achievements, ongoing projects and exciting opportunities ahead for families and students in the community. SPES will host its annual general meeting and fundraiser event Oct. 28 at the Sun Peaks Centre celebrating the society’s 15th anniversary.

Another standout initiative this year is the annual year-end field trip, which offers students enriching experiences beyond the classroom. Thanks to community support and fundraising efforts, students enjoyed multiple-day outdoor adventures last year, including hiking, biking and sailing in Whistler, opportunities that might not have been possible without SPES’ programming.

Additional funds raised through Giving Tuesd-eh have enabled SPES to bring in guest speakers, such as first-aid and avalanche-safety experts and invest in classroom upgrades like improved lighting, air filtration and social-learning zones.

Looking ahead, SPES is working to select this year’s field-trip destination, with options under consideration including an outdoor camp in North Vancouver, a marine-station stay or a combined sports and arts stay at the University of British Columbia. Through it all, students will have a voice in selecting the destination that best suits their interests.

SPES also reminds all community members that beyond district-funded programs, many of the school’s enhanced activities and facilities rely entirely on donations and volunteers.
