The Sun Peaks Housing Authority (SPHA) is inviting the public to an open house Oct. 7, where it will unveil its first community housing project and present the plans to the community.

What to expect?

At the event, SPHA will present the BC Builds project, its first purpose-built rental development. The project is planned for 1188 Sun Peaks Rd. and aims to deliver  110-units in a mix of studios and one-to-three-bedroom apartments. The development is expected to include below-market and market-rate units in order to serve a range of local housing needs. In addition to viewing designs and renderings, the public will have the opportunity to meet SPHA’s Board of Directors.

Why it matters?

SPHA was established in 2018 by Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality to manage and develop community housing projects. The open house marks an important milestone; it will be the first housing site owned and operated directly by SPHA. The project addresses long-standing housing pressure in Sun Peaks, particularly for working residents and staff who struggle to find affordable, long-term housing.

The open house will also serve as a chance for the public to ask questions, provide feedback and become more familiar with SPHA. It will be hosted from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Sun Peaks Centre Conference Room.
