Sun Peaks municipality hires new chief administrative officer

Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality announced Thursday, July 19 that Rob Bremner was hired as the new chief
administrative officer (CAO). Bremner will replace departing CAO Byron Johnson. Bremner will commence the position on August 13, 2012.

Bremner was formerly CAO in Tofino and Sechelt and has an extensive background in parks and recreation administration.

“(The municipality) was pleased with the quality of applicants and extremely happy to be able to select someone with (Bremner’s) qualification and enthusiasm,” stated Mayor Al Raine.

Bremner and his family will be moving to Sun Peaks Resort in early August.

“We’re excited about this opportunity and we’re looking forward to joining the Sun Peaks community,” said Bremner. “(Sun Peaks) is a community built on recreation tourism and with my experience in tourism communities and recreation, Sun Peaks is the perfect fit for our family.”

After spending two years in Sun Peaks, Johnson will be returning to Quesnel.

“I have enjoyed the past two years. The mayor and council have been great to work with,” said Johnson. “The challenge of setting up a new municipality was a great experience.”
