As the winter season approaches, Sun Peaks Mountain Resort Municipality (SPMRM) is reminding residents and property owners of winter parking and snow clearing regulations coming into effect Nov. 1. These measures are designed to keep roads safe and accessible while ensuring efficient snow removal throughout the community.
No street parking
From Nov. 1 to April 30, street parking is strictly prohibited across the municipality. Vehicles left on roads during this period may obstruct snow-clearing operations and will be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense.
Clear roadside areas
Residents are asked to keep roadside areas, including shoulders, verges, boulevards, easements and ditches, completely clear of vehicles, trailers, RVs, construction materials and other personal items. These areas are essential for plowing and snow storage. Items left in these zones can hinder snow removal and pose safety hazards and may be subject to enforcement, including fines or removal.
No snow dumping on roads
Property owners are reminded not to shovel or blow snow from driveways onto municipal roads. Doing so can create large snow piles on roads or neighboring properties. Residents should always obtain permission from neighbours before depositing snow on their property.
Inform visitors
Homeowners should ensure that guests, renters and contractors are aware of these regulations. Vehicles parked illegally by anyone on your property or visiting your home may be fined or towed.
