Sun Peaks schools are calling all volunteers

readingBehind every successful school, there’s a team of dedicated volunteers who work to make it all happen.

There’s no school community where that’s truer than at Sun Peaks.

Sun Peaks Elementary School, K to Grade 6
This year the Sun Peaks Elementary school is in need of dedicated adults who can help out with lunchtime monitoring, and who are keen and willing to be trained for the One to One Reading program.

Lunchtime monitoring is a paid position, at $10 per shift, and requires monitors to supervise students while they eat lunch, walk with them to the sports field in the fall and spring, and watch over them as they ski on the Village Platter area in the winter.

One to One reading is a successful reading program where volunteers are trained in simple reading strategies so they can help children who are struggling with some aspect of their reading.

Contact Principal Deanna Brady to volunteer for the elementary school. Or Ryan Oevermann for lunchtime monitoring.

Sun Peaks Education Society (SPES), Grades 7 to 12
The SPES is also seeking volunteers to work towards their mandate of administrating over the Discovery Centre’s high school students.

Volunteers are needed to source donations for the upcoming Firefighters’ Gala, sell tickets for the BC Lottery weekly cash draws, and to be available to volunteer for ongoing events throughout the year.

Contact info@balancededucation.ca to help out with the Sun Peaks Education Society.
