Sun Peaks is gearing up for an exciting B.C. Day long weekend, with Tourism Sun Peaks (TSP) rolling out a vibrant schedule packed with live music, wellness activities and family-friendly events designed to bring locals and visitors together in celebration.

The festivities begin Friday, Aug. 1, with the first “First Friday” of the month, featuring live entertainment in the village and a free concert by The Free Label, a high-energy funk-pop band from Toronto. The group, performing for the first time in Sun Peaks, was recommended through a partner agency and selected for their original music and electrifying stage presence.

“This band hasn’t been here before, and we were looking for something that would really energize the evening,” TSP’s events manager Theresa St. Louis said. “We’re expecting a fun, dance-worthy performance.”

Coinciding with the concert, the Sun Peaks Grand Hotel will host a terrace party offering beverage service throughout the performance, and guests are encouraged to pre-register for this.

On Saturday, the fun continues with a Bounce House Party from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the village. Aimed at families, the event features inflatable attractions, popcorn and yard games.

Also spanning the weekend is the Mountain Lifestyle Wellness Weekend presented in partnership with Helly Hansen and Sun Peaks Resort LLP . From Friday through Sunday, the event will offer a range of on-mountain experiences, including trail runs, yoga sessions, fitness classes and even a wellness scavenger hunt.

Sunday wraps up the weekend with several community-favourite events. The weekly market runs from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. along the village stroll, offering a wide array of local vendors, food and crafts. Later in the evening, guests can wind down at Sun Peaks Centre Stage for an outdoor movie night featuring a Jack Black double feature. The first showing, Minecraft: The Movie, begins at 5 p.m., followed by School of Rock at 7 p.m. Guests are invited to bring their own chairs or sit on bleachers provided on site.

“With live music, free activities, great food and beverage options, and so much more happening throughout the weekend, this is the perfect time to come out and experience summer at Sun Peaks,” St. Louis said. “The patios are open, the market is bustling and there’s truly something for everyone.”
