Sun Peaks Utilities to host information session about natural gas pipeline

 | January 11, 2013

Gas-Outlet-Sun Peaks Utilities will be hosting an update session on its activities and a question and answer session on bringing natural gas to Sun Peaks, in Salon B at the Delta Hotel from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm on Saturday, January 12, 2013.

As mentioned in earlier Utility Newsletters, Sun Peaks Utilities has been investigating whether it is feasible to replace the Propane Storage Facility at Sun Peaks with a Natural Gas Pipeline.

By mid-December, FortisBC expects to have finalized their cost estimates to extend the natural gas line from Heffley Creek to Sun Peaks. Though there are still details that need to be clarified, at this point they have indicated that the cost estimates are higher than initially anticipated. Overall, the research done by Sun Peaks Utilities, the Municipality and FortisBC indicates that this project may have too many challenges to overcome at this time. Sun Peaks Utilities would like to update the community on the project’s status.

Sun Peaks Utilities will also providing a general update on all its activities and pending rate applications. If you are not able to attend this meeting, minutes as well as questions and answers from the meeting will be posted on the Utility’s website at as well as ongoing Utility updates.
