The races have begun again for Sun Peaks ski racer Elli Terwiel. Four FIS races, two Europa Cup slaloms and a World Cup race in five countries are in the lineup for this member of the Canadian National Alpine Ski Team.
The adrenaline-pumping schedule began Feb. 25 to 26 with two FIS races scheduled at Bodele, Austria. She’ll also be competing in the Europa Cup on March 1 in Zakopane, Poland and in Jasna, Slovakia on March 2.
Two GS slalom races are scheduled in Goetschen, Germany on March 5 and 6, culminating with her much anticipated second World Cup race on March 12 at Spindleruv Mlyn in the Czech Republic.
During her time off prior to the races, Terwiel spent a lot of time receiving expert coaching on the slopes from former CAST tech coach and Sun Peaks Alpine Club director John Crichton.
After she narrowly missed getting a second run in her first World Cup (0.17th of a second), she’s looking to step up her competition this time around.
“I’ve been training on the OSV. We did a training session on Cariboo, which is excellent,” said Terwiel. “I went down and did three training sessions in Apex as well. I’ve been taking advantage of the great coaching available here at Sun Peaks. Thanks to the community. They’ve been excellent.”
