Thank you to everyone that assisted with (the Sunday, June 6) Habitat for Humanity Garage Sale and barbecue, and especially to the team that was there for the whole event. From set-up to tear-down, you greeted guests, cooked food, and entertained us with your dancing!
These rock stars are Melissa Bahula, Katie Hutton, Yuki Sageishi and Eda Koot.
I need to give a shout out to both the Kitchen Team and Banquets with having everything ready for us in the morning, Housekeeping for last-minute requests, as well to all the community members that donated items and purchased stuff. Talk about being a green community . . . Sun Peaks, you’re awesome.
We even had guests just drive up from Kamloops including a family travelling through from Toronto that purchased stuff.
We logged a total of 35.5 volunteer hours for this event and broke last year’s garage sale and barbecue sales record by a landslide! The grand total for the day was just over $1,200. Not bad for an afternoon I must say. Plus the weather . . . Mother Nature was on our side.
I am pleased to say that Habitat for Humanity – Kamloops will receive 100 per cent of today’s sales and the volunteer crew decided to take the additional sales to purchase stuffed animals for the Royal Inland Hospital – Pediatrics Ward for our Spot the Cruiser event.
Items not sold during the garage sale will be shared with several local charity organizations including the Habitat Restore.
Thank you, again, everyone for your contributions . . . way to be a good neighbour!
