Fundraising is underway for the Discovery Centre for Balanced Education and the Sun Peaks Education Society is calling on the community to help reach their goal of $75,000.
Individual and corporate donations are welcome. Pledges can be one-time, monthly, quarterly or yearly. To access corporate or personal pledge forms, visit www.balancededucation.ca and click on “Raising Funds”.
A fundraising event is also being planned for the Labour Day weekend and the Sun Peaks Firefighters’ Ball later this year.
With the hard work of the fundraising committee and Senator Nancy Greene-Raine as the honourary chair, the society is well on their way to their target amount.
Proceeds of the fundraising will go toward staffing, insurance and operational expenses of the Discovery Centre. It will also be used for enhanced educational programs such as sports and music.
On a different note, the society has recently hired a full-time on-site teacher for the centre. Jillian Curle holds a Bachelor of Education degree with a certificate in Special Education. She will be working with the teachers from @KOOL.
Parents who would like to enrol their children must fill out the enrolment form at www.balancededucation.ca. They must also enrol their children with @KOOL by mid-August through http://kool.sd73.bc.ca/applications. If your child is going into kindergarten, contact @KOOL’s Laurel Seafoot at 250-319-3624.
