Sun Peaks Fire and Rescue’s Work Experience Program (WEP) is gaining attention around B.C. with representatives from the Vancouver Fire Department visiting Sun Peaks to address WEP participants in May.
Chief Colin Cannon said it was the first time the Vancouver department had visited the community.
“They’d heard about the WEP program and . . . they’ve hired members who’ve taken part in it,” Cannon said.
“They came up here to have a face-to-face chat with our current participants and share some advice with them about applying for work with the Vancouver Fire Department.”
The three visiting firefighters also got involved with the community during their visit, helping out with the annual Trash Bash cleanup.
