Cpl. Gord Mills said Kamloops RCMP received a phone call this morning about a possible sighting of the vehicle in Heffley Creek. Two members of the Kamloops Rural RCMP went to a park in Heffley Creek to investigate, but it turned out to be false alarm.
Mills said it was an import vehicle and the driver was there, but it was not the one police were after.
“It wasn’t a Toyota, but a similar lookalike,” reiterated Mills. “It was not the same one.” “We get the calls and we respond to them, but there’s nothing concrete that we’ve found yet.”
The wanted vehicle is a 1987 Toyota Camry with licence plate 098 RAL. It belongs to 46-year-old Randall Hopley who is a suspect in the disappearance of three-year-old Kienan Hebert. Hebert was reported missing on Wednesday from his home in Sparwood, B.C.
An AMBER alert was sent out Wednesday morning, and has been extended until today as the search for the missing boy continues.
