Voyageur Bistro wades into town

 | December 13, 2012
Adorned with local antiques and artworks, new Sun Peaks restaurant, Voyageur Bistro, will offer an authentic Canadian dining experience with classic Canadian ingredients and local drinks.

Sun Peaks’ newest restaurant, Voyageur Bistro, will open on December 15. It’s located in the Kookaburra Lodge.

Kevin Tessier founder of the Voyageur Bistro says the idea behind the bistro is to serve classic Canadian dishes.

The menu will have a strong French Canadian influence, focusing on traditional ingredients like bison, high quality beef, peameal bacon, maple syrup and root vegetables.

“(Voyageur Bistro) will most certainly be about the cuisine but (there’s a) whole storyline with what (will be) adorning the walls,” Tessier says.

This will include authentic artwork and maps, and even a 1930s Peterborough canvas cedar strip canoe.

“(Voyageur Bistro) will be open late afternoons Monday to Friday and the kitchen will be open until 9:30 p.m. We’re looking at (having) a late night menu. Saturday and Sunday we will be open 11 a.m. till close.

Reservations are not required and Voyageur Bistro also hopes to offer meals to go.
