Whitecroft grant approved

A grant from the Union of British Columbia Municipalities has been approved for Whitecroft. The funding will be provided through the Ministry of Forests and Range.

3D Forestry Ltd. applied for the grant to rid the community of excess unburned fuels.

The community’s vulnerability to forest fires became evident after a fire burned dangerously close to the community last summer, resulting in evacuations.

The funding from UBCM complements another grant that was applied through the Job Opportunities Program to provide the total amount needed for fuel management. 3D Forestry estimates a total amount of $400,000 for the planning and implementation of the program, which is expected to be completed next year.
